INTERNATIONAL WOMEN DAY
Sunday March 8th marked International Women Day.  It also marked the 2year anniversary that a very dear friend of mine had her last cancer treatment.  Tracy has been cancer free ever since.

It was the entire journey that  Tracy started almost 3.5 years ago that made me realize a few things:
     * things can change in a second
     * you don't understand how precious life is until somebody close to you is about to start  the  fight of her life and you can't do a damn thing to stop it
     * you are stronger than you think - especially with family and friends at your side
     * every little contribution matters

When Tracy started her fight, I felt powerless.  Then one day she called me, worried about the chemo treatments she was doing and losing her hair.  I told her that she could shave my head to get an idea of the feel and to have somebody to go through it with her.  So she shaved my head and I returned the favour.  It was a bond that Tracy and I had that nobody else had - not even her family.  I felt like, in a small way, I helped Tracy  overcome an obstacle - even though it was a small one.

Things were going well and Tracy was doing great with her treatments.  She had a wig that looked amazing on her and it really helped her spirits.  Then on March 8, 2024 Tracy rang the bell at Grand River for the last time and she was done her treatments and was cancer free.  I decided to go full circle and continued to grow my hair out in an effort  to donate it to the cancer society for the production of wigs for other people who are going through the same kind of fight Tracy did.

Sunday March 8th, 2026 - my hair was long, Tracy was ready to cut it and another dear friend and owner of Campus Estates Hairstyling - Betty Whalen - was ready to style me up.  Enjoy the pictures from our day together on this day.  It was a load of fun !!

I hope that my small donation to the cause can help another fighter go through their fight  a little easier.  Every little bit matters and I am happy I could do my part for Tracy and another cancer fighter !

Stay Sharp my Friends,  BarberRino
